Layout Tutorial

As promised, I want to show you how I created my 'Always My Girl' layout from this month's MCS reveal using a white cardstock as my background.

I started by pulling some of my mists that I thought coordinated with the beautiful, bright colors in this month's LE kit. I used Glimmer Mist in Sun Sisters, Hoola Hoop, S.W.A.K. and Trunk Bay. I also used an old Prima stamp I had in my stash along with StazOn ink in Timber Brown.

Next, I stamped randomly around an 11x11 piece of white cardstock. I chose a solvent ink pad because I didn't want my stamped image to bleed when I used the mists. I used a combination of misting and splatting.

I used the zigzag stitch in my sewing my machine to sew my background onto a sheet of pattern paper.

I finished my page by adding photos, cut-out design elements from the papers, flowers and other embellishments.

Hope you found this tutorial useful. Thanks so much for your visit today!

Quick and Easy

Hello everyone!  I know we're all heard of 'the lazy days of summer' but if you're anything like me, these are the days when we are doing soooo many things to keed our kids entertained and catch up with chores in the house as well as the outdoors. So today, I have quick and easy page that can be done under one hour, that's right, under one hour!!

It normally takes me a couple of days and a total of about four hours to do a page so I wanted to share with you my shortcuts to get your craft on even when time is short.

Here's how I saved time:
  • Since the papers are already distressed, I skipped inking the edges.
  • I also like to use border punches on my pages but lining up the punched designs takes too long so I opted to punch only the corners on my background paper.
  • I also saved time by using a 4x6 photo which is bigger than the 3.5x5 that I normally prefer but the bigger photo needs less embellishing and layering to make your page look 'finished'
  • Stick to a single paper collection so that all the papers coordinate without having to think too much about it. Here you can see that the papers in the French Kiss collection work very nicely together.
  • Add detail with a doily! Doilies are already very intricate and they don't need anything done to them!

That's all from me today! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find my tips helpful to save some time and still get creative!

The Smile That Melts My Heart

Happy Monday to you all! I normally don't have time to part take challenges but since I'm off from work for the summer, I thought I'd play along with Webster's Pages 'We Love Our Guys' challenge. I was excited to use the Game On collection to scrap some photos of Dylan I recently took while on vacation. This is what I created...

This is the most adorable collection and I think I got a little carried away with all the cute embellishments, the result reminds me of a collage but I'm quite pleased with it :)

Thanks so much for visiting today, have a wonderful week!

Glitz Design Has Gone Digital!!!

Hello again! Jolaine here with a very special post. I'm not a digi girl but when I got the digital kits from Glitz I just knew I had to give it a go! Now, go easy on me, this is my first digital page and I'm not a Photoshop expert :)

My first impression... SUPER easy!!!! I normally use Photoshop Elements to edit my photos and turns out, PSE is perfect for digi scrapping too! It was just a matter of layering different papers and elements and this page came together in no time, I think I could get used to this!

Glitz digital collections are available for purchase at Besides layouts, these would be great for cards, inviations (the Hoopla collection would be perfect!) and stationary. You could also just print out digital elements and use them in a traditional way for a hybrid layout! The digital kits would also be great to design Christmas cards, the possibilities are endless!

As you can see, I created a summer page in conjuntion with our Blog theme of the month, Summer Fun! Remember, the challenge runs all month long, so join in on the fun!

Thanks so much for your visit today. I hope you're all having a wonderful summer!

Vacation Pictures!!!

As I mentioned a couple of posts back, we were lucky to spend two amazing weeks in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for our summer vacation.

We had a great time! Since I'm from the Dominican Republic, we spent a week at a beach condo with family and friends. Dylan got to meet my father for the first time as well as other cousins, it was such a special time. The second week was just pure bliss! We stayed at an all-inclusive resort and all we had to do was show up and enjoy, ahhh, I miss it already! Here's a few pictures out of the hundreds I took :)

Thanks for letting me share, have a wonderful day!!!

The first page is titled Always My Girl, stay tuned, I actually have a step-by-step tutorial for this layout!

Next up is Girlie Girl, lots of fussy cutting, stitching and misting here, really fun!
