First Easter Layout

Hello crafty friends!

I finally got into the spring spirit and decided to do an Easter Layout. I used the Flutter Butter collection by Bo Bunny, love it! Still have a ton of paper left. This is actually the first layout I do of my son and I wasn't sure at all how to tackle it. I normally add flowers to everything but boys are hard! What do you think? I thought I could get away with it because I used blue and yellow ones!

The words 'baby's first' were Bo Bunny stickers and the word 'Easter' as well as the journaling tag were cut using the Storybook cartridge on my Cricut. The phrase 'little one' came from the New Arrival cartridge.

The brown borders were cut using a Martha Stewart border punch. These papers actually came from a collection kit that includes one page of each style but I love to make double layouts, so in order to 'fake' a coordinating yellow sheet, I used the matching rubbons. All of the swirls are also Bo Bunny stickers.

For the flowers, I layered a bunch of basic Prima flowers I had in ivory and blue and added Bo Bunny epoxy brads in the centers. To add some interest, I sprayed some flowers with Glimmer Mist in Frozen Lake. It just made it a little darker and added a pretty sheen. BTW, Glimmer Mist is my new favorite product, love it!

Here are some more detail pictures. Thanks for stopping by! Have a creative day!!!

Bo Bunny Snowy Serenade Layout

Hello crafty friends,

More winter coming your way! LOL! No, I don't have my seasons all mixed up; I'm just really backed up!!! My goal for the next few months is to play catch up with my scrapbooking. I'm actually 2 years behind! These photos of my daughter were taken in January 2008.

I really wanted to play with these papers I've had for a while but the colors didn't go together so I printed the pictures in black and white. I have to say I LOVE Bo Bunny! These papers are so much fun that the LO actually came together rather quickly! The papers are all glittered and I added some more sparkles by brushing Diamond Glaze (Queen and Co) on the letters and flowers as well as spritzing with Glimmer Mist. The snowflakes are also glittered (MLYB) plus I added bling to the centers.

This was actually my first time trying Glimmer Mist. This product is FUN but tricky! The flowers you see here started out white and turned blue when I sprayed them with Frozen Lake Glimmer Mist; but as they dried, they turned green! Maybe I did something wrong, who knows but I'll try it again for sure. All the sparkle is hard to resist!

Here are some more close ups. TFL!

Santa Mail Keepsake Box

Before

After
I know what you're thinking, Santa? Aren't we in Spring? Yep, but... I had this project on my desk for awhile and I finally finished it. I wanted to make a keepsake box to keep all those letters Emily's written to Santa Claus before I loose them. I'm hoping to give them to her when she's older and doesn't believe in Santa anymore, say 35 or so! LOL!

K and Company's Evergreen collection had the vintage feel I was looking for, for this particular project but really, the sky is the limit. Using papers in a musical, rock theme can result in a cute keepsake box for concert tickets, you could also make a similar project to store mementos from a special trip, menus of restaurants you went to on romantic dates, and the list really is endless.

1. Begin by removing all of the hardware and painting the inside using acrylic paint. I used a dark shade of red.

2. To cut the paper for the top and bottom of our box, place the paper of your choice over the lid and run your finger on the edge of the lid to create a crease that will act as a cutting guide. For the sides, simply measure the height and cut a strip the same size. I used a 3 1/2" strip for the side of the lid, and a 4 1/2" strip for the side of the base. I did need to cut an additional piece of paper because the 12 inch length was not enough to go around the box. That was no biggie though. To adhere the paper to the wood, just spread a thin layer of Modge Podge over the surface, place the paper over it, and let dry for a couple of minutes.

 3. Once you have cut your paper to shape. Use an emery board to sand all the edges and ink in a coordinating color.

4. Add your choice of embellishments. I used ribbon, stickers, poinsettias, and a couple of jingle bells. I also used Stickles and Glossy Accents to add dimension.

That's all folks! This project was so much fun to make, and easy too!! I hope you like this idea and give it a try. The video below will give you more details. Thanks so much for stopping by!
