Heart and Soul

Hello again friends! Although Mother's Day has passed, our blog challenge is to celebrate the important women in our lives all month long!

To honor the most important woman in my life, I created a layout of my mom. She's the strongest woman I know, wholeheartedly and selflessly dedicated to her children. And look at her, not an ounce of make-up and she still looks gorgeous!

I used the neutral tones in the gorgeous French Kiss collection and layered flowers and other embellishments to complement her photo. Here's a closer look...

For my next layout, I played with Happy Travels. I really love the brown and teal hues in this collection! I'm lucky to have gotten this shot of my son sitting in our backyard. He's three years old and at the moment, the minute he sees me holding a camera, he runs away!!!

Some close-ups...

There's still plenty of time left to take part in our challenge, I hope you dig up your Glitz stash and play along! Thanks so much for your visit today. Have fun scrapping!

XO,
Jolaine

It's time to reveal May's sketch at My Creative Sketches and this month we have a beautiful sketch designed by Tony Rangel inspired by a gorgeous page created by my fellow DT team-mate, Delaina Burns.

This is my take on the sketch...

Mother's Day Wishes and A Project for My Mommy

Hello everyone! My apologies to you, totally meant to write this post much earlier today but I've been very busy. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day and spent quality time with the mothers and children in your lives. I'd like to share with you a project I created for my mom. I altered a paper mache heart-shaped box and made her a card using yummy Prima Reflections collection and other embellishments in the current color palette.

First off a card...

And this box to hold a beautiful Pandora bracelet in coordinating colors.

Here you can see the box opened. Some of the embellishments are different as I used what I already had in my stash but I tried to keep the colors similar.

Here's both items side by side. As you know, I don't make cards very frequently but I really like how this one turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I so appreciate your visit. Have a happy, scrappy time!

Birthday Girl

Hello again dear friends! I'm back to share a bit of a different post. We recently celebrated Emily's 7th birthday and she chose to go with an art theme (how perfect is that!). We hosted the party at a nearby art studio along with Dyland and 8 of her friends. I thought I'd share with you how digging into my stash helped me make her party extra special.

We began with this adorable invitation from Big Day Invitations Etsy store. The owner was very speedy and accommodating as I requested a couple of changes from her original design.

These were the goodie bags. Super simple to make, I typed the message on my computer then used my Coluzzle to cut out the circles. Once stapled in place, I sprayed them with Glimmer Mist to create the appearance of paint stains.

The kids had a blast painting a canvas. Please forgive me for not posting too many photos of the girls as I did not get permission from their parents to do so.

I used some old Prima Fairy Flora papers that I had in my stash to create the watercolor mats on these frames. I also splattered some Glimmer Mist.

I also decided to bake the cake myself. I wanted it to look like a white canvas so the icing was very white and plain accentuated by colorful candles. Since the theme was art, I surprised the girls with six layers of different colors in the inside of the cake. Now, I don't regularly bake, so for me, this was a big deal! I followed this tutorial and must say, kind of felt very proud of myself when I heard the kids and moms wooing and ahhing as they got their slices :)

Lastly, a rare pic of my girl and I as I don't really like to be in front of the camera. I just cannot believe how fast time has passed, it seems just like yesterday when she was handed to me for the first time and now look at her! I'm so proud of how sweet and kind she has turned out to be.

I'll log off now before I start crying (or start think about having another one, LOL!) Thanks for your visit today.

Hugs,
Jolaine

My Creative Scrapbook May Reveal

It's time for another reveal from My Creative Scrapbook. Our kits seem to be getting bigger and bigger and the LE kit this month is bursting at the seams with the most beautiful papers, flowers and metal embellishments, seriously, this one is to die for...it features Webster's Pages Everyday Poetry collection!

For my first layout, I scrapped a photo I took recently of my two children. It's not a great photo as it was taken indoors but I rarely get them to pose for a picture at the same time so I take what I can get.

To my surprise and delight, this layout is being featured this week on the Webster's Pages Ning site as Banner of the Week, a true honor as I'm a huge fan!

Here's a few close-ups...

For my next layout, I chose the papers and elements to complement this photo taken on Easter Sunday last month. I found this collection so fresh and beautiful, really easy to work with!

And now a closer look...

I think this next page is my favorite of the release, maybe because I love this photo so much!

What I like most about Webster's Pages is that it gives you the ability to cut out all the beautiful elements to further decorate your pages. I popped up my cut outs using cardboard!

My last page using this kit. I was able to add plenty of layers of papers and embellishments and still have a pile of leftovers!

Here's a look at this gorgeous kit.

I hope I inspired you today, but for more inspiration, head over to My Creative Scrapbook, DT gallery and get ready to drool, those girls really rocked this month's kits!

Hugs,
Jolaine
