Strawberry Shortcake Inspired Birthday Party

Hello friends,

So today my post is not really scrapbooking but it's still scrapbooking-related. I'm sharing with you photos of my daughter's 5th birthday party. She wanted to go with the Strawberry Shortcake theme. I didn't really use the cartoon character but I did use the colors and elements found in the movies to draw inspiration and put together a party I'm calling Berrylicious Birthday Bash! This was soooo much fun to plan and create. Hope you enjoy the images!

For all the party decorations, I put my Cricut to do some serious work. Turns out the Indie Art cartridge has a cute strawberry image I used to make the birthday banners and frames, which I used as wall decor.

The super sweet tutu and head piece set Emily wore was purchased online on Etsy.com. For the top, I adhered an iron-on sequin number 5 to a plain tank top I found at H&M.

To get the guests in the berry mood, I made a wreath using a foam wreath frame, a feather boa, and a strawberry garland.

The dessert table consisted of delicious Italian pastries I had a local bakery custom decorate to coordinate with the theme. The cake was made by my talented friend Pepper Fateman. I also decorated take-out boxes so all the guests could take some goodies home.

The strawberries were a big hit. We simply used white Ghirardelli chips and red food dye to coat them with a hot pink layer of chocolate. They were super yummy!

I also turned to my Bug to cut out the scalloped circles which were used all throughout the party for everything from labels to balloon ties cover-up.

The party favor/craft activity was flower pot decorating and seed planting. My sister was so helpful! Not only did she come to my house the day before to help me decorate but she also wore a Strawberry Shortcake wig and facilitated the whole activity! Thank you Jordania, you're the best!

The entertainment was provided by the most gracious and patient clown I've met. Her name is Smiley. She did musical games, magic tricks and face painting with the kids. They LOVED her!

The Hunt Is On!!!

Hello everyone, here's hoping you had a fantastic weekend. It was really busy around here doing some yard work. I did manage to get some crafting done and this is what I came up with.

For my first LO, I scrapped photos from last year's Easter egg hunt using some old Basic Grey Urban Prairy papers I've had for more than a year.

Lots of texture going on here with layering, Glimmer Mist, Distress inks and Stickles. I also used the great Gabrielle Pollacco's wave technique around the second layer of paper.

For my second LO, I decided to scrap photos of my son Dylan taken on Valentine's Day. I drew inspiration from the very talented Beggahuna's Valentine sketch. For this one, I used Little Yellow Bicycle's Sweet Love and images cut on my Cricut.

Because these pages will ultimately go into Dylan's first year album, journaling is very important to me. I'm experimenting with different ways to present my journaling, here I typed it onto a heart-shaped tag, which I tucked partly behind the picture.

In order to make it look more masculine I did distress the edges quite a bit and tried lots of inking, still struggling with boy layouts though...

Beauty In Bloom

Hope you are all loving the weather. The kids were extra tired from running around all day so I got to crop a little. Here's the LO I made.

Making this was soooo much fun! I bought these papers at a LSS and got to work right away! The pictures were taken last year on Easter. I played around with distressing inks, tags, Glimmer Mist and even regular old silk flowers!

To make the 'BLOOM' title, I cut the letters using my Lyrical Letters Cricut cartridge and glimmer misted them in Iridescent Gold. I then inked them using Tim Holtz Distressing Inks in Shabby Shutters and toped them with a generous coat of Glossy Accents.

The large yellow and white flowers you see here are silk flowers I got from the floral section at Michaels. They are a lot less expensive than scrapbooking flowers! All I had to do was pull them apart and remove the stem so they would be less bulky and fit into my page protector. I then glimmer misted them using Iridescent Gold. The rest of the flowers are from a white Prima variety pack. Some of them were inked with yellow Cat Eye ink and others were glimmer misted with Sweet Clover. The ones I left white still got a coat of Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist. I just love this thing! You can't really see it in the pictures but all the flowers, including the Prima vine, are very glimmery!

For this page, I thought I try making a sliding tag. I used my Sentimental Cricut cartridge to cut the tag out and colored it with beige Cat Eye ink, then inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distressing Inks in Shabby Shutters. This is the top note tag, which I thought coordinated well with the shape of the die cut cardstock in the opposite page. I then staked two flowers and used my Crop-a-Dile to set an eyelet through the middle of the flowers. I love how this came out! I think I see a trend here, at least in my albums!

I think I'll do a Glimmer Mist video soon. I just learned about it and I'm totally hooked but choosing the colors can be tricky, so if you're a Glimmer Mist newbie, look out for it!

Clear Stamp Storage

I hope everyone had a happy Easter. I had a wonderful day with my family, we were blessed with great weather! Today, I'm sharing a video where I explain how I like to store my clear stamps.
